Snowflake Challenge Day 7 and 10

Stretch yourself a little and try something new. Go play in a new fandom or with a new pairing. Try working in a new medium. Or check out some fanworks that are new to you.

Day 10

Create a fanwork.

So even though I posted my Steve Bday 2012 during the Snowflake Challenge, it didn't quite fit the spirit of the challenge -- I wanted to make something new, and maybe a bit different from my usual stuff. It's hard to find something that doesn't involve jumping into a new art genre altogether, but then I remembered that I got a button machine, but could never figure out what to make on it.

So I made myself a Bucky Button:

I realized in the drawing process that ... I don't really use buttons, and that's probably why I have so much trouble designing them. I know they're a popular convention item, but they're just not as appealing as sticker sheets for me. But anyway, now I have a button.

Yeah, buttons seem like a cool idea, but then I'd never wear it outside of a convention (and I haven't been to a convention in ages).

Whereas I like putting stickers all over my laptop. It makes me smile.

yeah, same. I'm always like "what do people do with buttons?" but then they seem to sell well at conventions, so I'm like ... "sure?" Which really means I'm stuck with a button maker and nothing much to do with it.

I'll be honest, I even bought a button when I went to the Star Wars costume exhibit in Detroit last year.

Everything else in the gift shop was hella expensive and there was a bucket of buttons at the checkout. They were slow so the cashier volunteered to help me pick through every single button looking for Princess Leia buttons. I bought one of every design, which meant buying the last of a couple of them. I gave all but one of them to a friend and the one I kept, I pinned to the side of my backpack and it does make me smile when I see it.

I'd still rather have stickers. My current laptop is slowly falling apart and when I thought about needing to replace it someday, my first thought was, "Nooo! Some of those stickers are irreplaceable!"

I have buttons sometimes, I put them on bags and eventually they fall off.

haha, that's pretty much what happens to buttons, eh? I wonder if I should put this on my school bag, or whether that would out me too much as a bucky fan
