Yes I'm still around
Feb. 18th, 2020 09:00 amSome random notes:
- This season of Doctor Who seems more robust than the last one. The Doctor is having a character arc where her decisions are impacting the story choices, the companions are doing distinguishable things, and there's some interesting threads going on in the season arc that isn't just Moffat-style "crack in time" or RTD-style "bad wolf". I'm really hoping Chibnall sticks the ending. :pray hands:
- I'm currently writing fic for an art and drawing art for a fic. Arting is so much easier, but I feel like, as I put more words on the page, the words get slightly easier.
- On the other hand, it's February break, so I'm gonna try to dedicate 2 days to just purely creative stuff like comic layouts, etc. I need to be more deliberate about what I choose to draw/write, so that I'm not spending all my energy on one thing and not the other. For example, if I'm spending 2 hours per week drawing for fandom, that's 2 fewer hours I have to ink the Rutabaga comics. I wanna do both, but Rutabaga has a finite ending, whereas fandom is forever. (I may try to wrap this fic up ASAP so that this week is errands + art)
- There's work drama that I'm trying to be chill about, but it mostly boils down to not being sure whether the admin thinks my teaching is bad, or my teaching is actually not a good fit for this school, or just that the admin needed a reason to cut my course load. Bleh.
- I finally switched from Waterfox back to Firefox because half of my commonly used sites were becoming unreliable on Waterfox. I got the Firefox Multi-Account Containers extension, which does the exact thing that I've been looking for, which is that I can have different tabs logged in to different identities, and I can right-click and open a link in a certain identity, which makes it much easier to respond to AO3 comments! yay! (I really wish that Firefox would actually put this official extension into the default, tho)
- Rutabaga (age 3 and 10 months) is getting into Stardew Valley! I did a 3.5 day beginning speedrun to get her set up with a bigger backpack and a small glow ring, all before her cat showed up (she wanted to name the cat.) I basically foraged all of the spring onions, chopped 300 wood to build the bridge to the bonus beach with the fancier items, then sold all of my foragings directly to Willy and Pierre to get 2000 gold to buy the backpack. (In addition to skulking around the mines for a glow ring and planting the initial plot of parsnips and wild seeds.) But now she can just putz around the place doing whatever she wants! (Which is mostly to pet the cat and kill slimes)
