okay fine I finally shelled out money for a month of Disney Plus, since my school's Marvel club isn't meeting today.
AAAAHHHHH ISAIAH BRADLEY!!! I love the Sam focus of this entire episode, and just ... Sam getting to grapple with what it would mean to pick up the Shield, and having that conversation with Isaiah -- both respecting your elders and the centuries of pain, and acknowledging what has driven and guided Sam in his own actions. I loved the bit where Sam said that standing up again is what's important, because after all that weighty conversation, you really *feel* that for Sam, it's not just Steve's individual standing up again, but something more nuanced. I'm really glad that they gave Sam the whole episode to really think about it -- he didn't state his case while with Isaiah, or while with Bucky, but really got a chance to process.
Bucky apologized to Sam!! yay!
Loved Sam marking the distinction between avenging and making amends -- that it should be about making the victimized party feel a sense of closure, not about Bucky hoping to feel better -- I know that's setting up for Bucky actually telling the old Japanese guy about what happened to his son, but also it's a much appreciated nod to reparations. (Will Isaiah get closure?)
Auuugh I want to see Sam's new wings so much!!!!
Kinda meh about the show shipping of Bucky and Sarah. It just feels a bit forced? Like, they established that Bucky is bad about flirting in ep 1, and sure, Sarah knows what Bucky does so he doesn't have to hide that aspect, but also, just flirting point blank from the first interaction? (Maybe it's just that I'm such a Sam/Steve/Bucky shipper lol)
Also, smh at Marvel just pretending that Steve is dead. oops, I mean, "gone". ffs Marvel. If you were gonna kill him, then give him a proper sending off.
