Mar. 30th, 2020 12:46 amSo my recent Aggressive Friending Plan in Stardew Valley made me think about Steve Rogers' Aggressive Friending Methods. Looking at the example with Sam, Steve's method seems to be:
1) Identify a person who he'd like to be friends with, who is also much more socially competent than he is
2) Get that person's attention through some punk-ass behavior
3) Wait for that person to notice and later initiate a more socially competent introduction
4) ????? (probably involves fights)
5) BFF (or more)
I'm just.... I'm now picturing 7 yo Steve applying that method to 8 yo Bucky. He makes a PLAN. For example:
- He insists on trying to do more pushups than Bucky during calistenics, the one class that they have together. Even if that means he passes out (and still loses).
- He shows up to every stickball game that Bucky's in, even though he's from 2 neighborhoods over.
- He sits behind Bucky during Mass and "accidentally" kicks Bucky's pew during strategic moments, and says his prayers way too loudly.
- He figures out Bucky's route home and starts trying to walk home the same way, but then he keeps getting pulled into fights when he sees some injustice, leading to Bucky having to always pull this little blonde punk out of scrapes. Finally after a week he's like "oh ffs" and "You're that Rogers kid, right? Guess we live in the same direction. What say we walk home together?"
Just, like..."On your left" but carried out by a much more awkward 7 yo Steve Rogers.

Date: 2020-03-30 03:22 pm (UTC)Interestingly, Steve goes light on 2 when it comes to Peggy. "Until he mulishly insists on walking to rescue Sgt. Barnes."
Now I really want to see Sam getting to see just How Awkward 7 yo Steve Rogers was. Hopefully with an opportunity to meet Gabe Jones. Because both of them deserve good things.

Date: 2020-04-02 03:52 am (UTC)And re: 2 for Peggy -- Steve was pulling punk-ass moves like nabbing the flag and jumping on grenades -- not for the sake of Peggy, but definitely caught her attention. And then when Peggy tries to have some actual convo, Steve's like "oh look I got beat up in that alley" and "ahahahah me, dance????"
