Okay, here's some:

1) Currently subscribed to: Solitary (78059 words) by exclamation -- it updates weekly and it's got great identity stuff (at first Steve doesn't know that the WS is Bucky), plus some great plot (it's 2012, and Rumlow is guarding the SHIELD cell that contains a captured Winter Soldier). I'm also subscribed to Standard Deviation (6565 words) by tajargirl, which hasn't updated in a while, but it's May Parker/Olivia Octavius as rivals/roommates when they were in college together and it's glorious

2) I love reading Pre-War fics where the world feels SO REAL, which speaks to both a shit-ton of research, and also an ability to not info-dump. you go to my head by brideofquiet with lovely art by alby_mangroves is one where Bucky discovers that Steve is a sex worker and also that he might have feelings.
The Kinder Thing (27474 words) by stele3 is one where WS and Steve don't really know each other, but then Steve gets sent back in time on a mission and meets Bucky Barnes.

3) I have a major soft spot for a Bucky that has gone through all of the Winter Soldier identity loss and dehumanization, come out the other side, and manage to cobble together a life out of nothing, by sheer force of will. He has that little run-down room with a few well-loved books and some scavenged small comforts, but he's still in survival mode. Then he meets Steve. Scents and Sensibility does that, Necrofloranomicon does that, and most recently, The Boy With The Thorn In His Side (21980 words) by BetteNoire does that.


RBB fics that I enjoyed that have surprisingly few hits:

1) I love all of my RBB collabs this year, but All Life Before Us (25178 words) by awrenawry has only a tenth of the hits of the others, and it's an absolutely lovely character study of Natasha and Bucky that really honors where they come from, and is beautifully written.

2) GUYZ it's an amazing genderbend Steve fic!!!! When I'm Reborn (20177 words) by Pineau_noir

3) Metallurgy (22129 words) by eyres, TheFriendlyPigeon is amazing!!! Bucky has his soul trapped in a giant mecha but also it's a Beauty and the Beast thing? And the art is amazing and the fic is so beautiful!

4) Damaged (25508 words) by witchwood_hull, AraniaDraws. It's another myth-ish one: as Bucky lay dying after the fall, a Black Dog comes and makes him an offer.

5) Myths Wrongly Interpreted (13169 words) by snarklyboojum, rumioki The one where Bucky is a witch's son and tries to use a spell to save Steve's life. With unintended consequences

Bonus) This one has a lot of hits, but OMG the art for this!!! And what an adorable story! All of Your Love is Sunlight (22657 words) by canistakahari, WarlockInTraining
