2 things that I wish AO3 could implement to make it more Art friendly:

1) Allow workskins to have the [profile] media attribute, which would allow artists to control the size that their art is displayed at given a range of browser sizes.
(Or, pending that, just a universal thing that sets images in fics to 100% width when the browser is in phone size)

2) Allow a single image tag in the fic summary space, so that the artist can put a small teaser banner. Set a max height so that it doesn't bloat search results. Have the info about this be on a how-to page that specifies that it should be sfw.

They both seem like ... pretty doable things? How do I help AO3 do it?

(Well, #2 actually seems more involved on the policy side)

Edit: Sorry, I misread Ao3 as DW. I definitely wish that images would auto-resize on Ao3.

There are two skins on DW that auto-size images, Neutral Good and Neutral Evil. I use Neutral Good, customized to a gray background.

no idea how to do it with skins, but you can just toss "width=100%" in your html for the image and that'll do it.
so like, img src="blahblahblah" width=100% in carrots. (I generally do 75 or 80%, but ymmv)

I'm not an artist but I will heartily second any idea that makes central fandom platforms friendlier for art so that artists aren't forced into commercial platforms like Tumblr or Twitter which will turn on them eventually. Incidentally what *are* artists doing with their nsfw art since the Tumblr crackdown last year?
