Fat is just your body's way of trying to prepare for bad times. That's why we eat when we're stressed. It's okay to do what you need to in order to cope. Maybe the ring can go on a chain?
just gonna braindump about wedding rings for a bit here
My mom can't wear her original wedding ring anymore either. For years she thought she was fat because she didn't eat right or didn't do enough exercise. Turns out she had a thyroid problem. She and my dad got her a ring that fits her current fingers for an anniversary a while back. (Like 10+ years ago.) Sometimes she wears her original ring as a midi ring.
One of my sisters doesn't wear her nice wedding ring because she works at a doctor's office and washes her hands a million times a day. She got an inexpensive silicone band on amazon to wear because she wanted something. Her husband also wears a silicone ring day to day because he works with computers and sometimes his hands are inside of them.
I only wear my rings when I leave the house. Given my mom's medical history I ordered them half a size too big. Which means I almost lose them a dozen times every winter and usually end up moving them over a finger so I don't.
Neither my dad nor my husband wear their rings for anything except special occasions. Both worked with their hands for too many years.
Re: just gonna braindump about wedding rings for a bit here
That was really cool, thanks for sharing! My parents don't wear rings
because they're Chinese. My wedding ring is a pretty simple silver nurdle,
so it wears well. tbh I don't feel super healthy rn, and the wedding ring
is a good reminder.
I've had my wedding ring resized a couple of times. I'm not 25 any more! My body has changed, kids and meds and life will do that. I'd rather wear my ring on my finger than stress about hitting a certain number on the scale to return to a body I'll never have again. That body served me well. It gave me two kids. But it's not the body I have now. This body is powered by chocolate. :-)
haha. honestly, the wedding ring thing is a good reminder that I'm not
actually at a healthy weight right now. When I am around 135, I
menstruate. When I get to 155, I feel out of breath all the time. So
ideally, I should be ~145. ::shrug::
oh yeah I tell myself that as well, but in the meantime I bought a really pretty one off Amazon made of stainless steel that looks like platinum. Totally worth the $10.
hmmm... given that it's one liner that isn't supposed to have that much
weight to it, and any sort of read-more does end up adding weight and value
to the sentence that I don't particularly care for ... how do you propose
that I tag it? Since it's a shitpost, I'm also fine just removing the post
altogether if that's easier for you?
general etiquette in my circles tends to be to put mentions of weight/dieting behind a cut because rather a lot of us have or have had issues with disordered eating and or toxic diet culture, but I see your point re: the shortness of a shitpost. A cut does seem to defeat the purpose a bit.
Just a tag of "weight" or "diet talk" or similar would help me, because I could filter on it so I just wouldn't see posts with those tags.
Thanks for replying. I felt really awkward asking, since I don't really know you yet, but I have enjoyed following your journal.
coolios. I'll definitely tag it "weight" and "health". tbh, this is
usually the sort of stuff that I'd put in my personal journal under access
lock, but figured, hey, in the spirit of shitposting .... I'm sorry to
have caused you distress.
