Jul. 5th, 2019 12:09 amthere's a tag comment on a tumblr reblog of my July 4th comic that says, "It's both comforting and depressing that the artist keeps making these, but the situation keeps getting worse. We've all got a lot of work ahead of us."
And ... yeah. I feel like the tone of my July 4th comics have really changed since the 2016 election -- less about the power of friendship and doing good because it's the right thing to do, and more ... hey the world has a lot of shit going on that often seem too big and too depressing but we've GOTTA do SOMETHING. I wonder how much of that is the world being actually shittier, and how much is that I live with someone who has an increasingly fatalistic view on the world. I have a lot of faith in humanity, but it's been increasingly challenged in recent years, and I wonder how much of that is coming across in the comic.
